CLASS TITLE: Summer Camp Counselor

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: A Summer Camp Counselor will be responsible for children ages K-5th grade; keeping them safe, having fun, and giving them a positive experience of summer camp. A counselor must be able to supervise children, communicate with other staff and parents, and provide structure to campers. Program planning and keeping on task are essential. The ability to drive a 15 passenger van, swimming experience, and CPR/1st Aid Certification are preferred. Applicants will be subject to a background check.

CLASS TITLE: Paradise Cove Concessions Worker

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Skills needed include working a computer point of sale program, customer service, food preparation, and maintain a professional relationship with other staff. Daily duties include receiving money from customers, professional customer service, preparing food, keeping the equipment and the facility clean and free of trash and dirt, nightly count down of money, and all other duties deemed necessary. Concession workers must be willing to obtain a Food Handlers Card prior to working at the facility. Applicants may be subject to a background check.

CLASS TITLE: Umpires

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:  Adult Softball Umpires are needed to officiate American Softball Association (ASA) for the Richmond Parks & Recreation Adult Softball league. Applicants must be ASA certified before March 28 and must be able to complete physical requirements for the position. Applicants must have a broad understanding of softball league rules and must be able to officiate either home plate or 2nd base.  Appearance must be neat and clean and applicant must obtain proper attire before the beginning of the season for appropriate league(s). Applicants may be subject to a background check.

CLASS TITLE: Summer Camp Director

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: The Summer Camp Director will be in charge of creating a schedule of employees, activities for children, purchasing supplies, and must be able to manage up to 8 workers. Skills needed include the ability to work with parents and other staff, organized, ability to drive a 15 passenger van, willing to work outside, swimming experience preferred, ability to create a structured and safe environment for children is a must. The Summer Camp Director will help to train Camp Counselors, will provide necessary incident/behavior/accident reports to the Parks & Recreation department, will purchase supplies and create crafts, activities, and a schedule for the summer and may perform other duties as deemed necessary. Certifications: CPR/First Aid. Applicants will be subject to a background check.
