Sign honoring Officer Daniel Ellis to be unveiled in Madison County

US Route 25X to be named “Officer Daniel Ellis Memorial Highway”

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 13, 2016) — By action of the Kentucky General Assembly, United States Route 25X in Madison County will be designated the “Officer Daniel Ellis Memorial Highway”. The section of roadway is United States Route 25X between its two intersections with United States Route 25. The limits are mile point 0.000 to mile point 3.644.

Daniel Ellis was born in Campbellsville, KY. He graduated from Taylor County High School in 2000.  Daniel proceeded to graduate from Eastern Kentucky University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.

Daniel began working for the Richmond Police Department on August 11, 2008.  His reputation included being hardworking, courteous and respectful with the people of Madison County.  Officer Ellis had recently been promoted to detective when he was killed in the line of duty during 2015. The service and sacrifice of Officer Daniel Ellis should be memorialized and honored.
