Community Resources
Nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Madison County is a land rooted with the frontiersman spirit. Discovered by Daniel Boone in 1769, Madison County is a place of discovery, entrepreneurship, ingenuity, and entertainment. Madison County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the state of Kentucky. Centrally located within 600 miles of 50% of the U.S. population, we define what it means to be 'centrally located'. With a workforce of over 360,000 from a 13 county regional labor market, we can meet the needs of a changing global economy.
Our business community ranges from leading industrial manufacturers located in one of our three industrial parks to our active and growing small business and entrepreneurial community. In addition, the Blue Grass Army Depot which is over 14,000 acres provides unique military-based development and works to attract public/private military projects. Six interstate exchanges on I75 and a short distance to I64, 2 major railways and the Central Kentucky Regional Airport with quick and easy access to the Bluegrass Airport, and within an hour and a half to two international airports, Madison County provides transportation support to a variety of industries.
Colleges
Both Eastern Kentucky University and Berea College attract young and vibrant scholars in the areas of nursing, aviation, science, agribusiness, law enforcement, and more. With expansions on both campuses, our institutes of higher learning are attracting students from around the world. In addition, our vocational programs provide skills for those who are interested in quickly entering the trades workforce.
Madison County has something for everyone, we pride ourselves on the quality of our hospitals, retirement, and veteran-friendly communities, our K12 education system and so much more. Whether in Berea, Richmond, or Madison County, we offer an abundance of opportunities for sports, shopping, arts and culture, entertainment, and just plain fun. Madison County is more than a location on a road map, we are a destination. So what are you waiting for? We are open for business.
