Welcome Letter
Welcome to Richmond, Kentucky located in the heart of Madison County and the heart of the Bluegrass State. You will find Richmond, the county seat of Madison County, to be a unique blend of small-town warmth and security while still having access to the advantages of a big city.
Richmond is located 26 miles south of Lexington, Horse Capital of the World, and 110 miles southeast of Louisville, home of Churchill Downs. This legendary racetrack is home to the world-famous Kentucky Derby, the first leg of horse racing's Triple Crown, held on the first Saturday in May every year. The metropolitan area of Cincinnati, Ohio is about 112 miles north with Knoxville, Tennessee 147 miles south.
There is so much growth and expansion going on in Madison County, in particular in Richmond. With the expansion of Madison Airport, the Town and Gown partnership with Eastern Kentucky University's dedication to initiate growth in Richmond, and the efforts of our Industrial Development Corporation, as well as the Urban Renewal and Development and Economic Development Committees at the Richmond Chamber, there are great changes ahead!
Industrial Parks
Our beautifully-designed Richmond Industrial parks are conveniently located 3 miles off I-75 (Exit 83) via a four-lane highway and offer infrastructure, rail service, some of the lowest electric rates in the country, and are AT&T Fiber Ready. Richmond Industrial Park South, Richmond Industrial Park South II, and Richmond Industrial Park South III contain an aggregate total of 624 acres. There are 152 shovel-ready acres currently available in Richmond Industrial Park South III. The street, curbs, and gutters are installed and the environmental, archaeological, wetland, geotechnical, karst, and other due diligence assessments have been completed. The terrain of the park features gently rolling hills and lots that can be configured to suit almost any need.
Roadways
Richmond's location allows connection to global markets via Interstate 75 running north and south through the center of Madison County.
